Sam
Grisham

I am a contemporary artist rooted in the vibrant ethos of the boomer generation. My preferred mediums are oils and acrylics, which I use to create stylized art in vivid, saturated color, infused with spirituality and, conscientious or not, messaging meant to be meaningful, as inspired by my inner hippie. The style and color palette I employ are not only products of my artistic era but also the culmination of a unique journey and of my individual complexities.

The compulsion to explore extremes in my work – from whimsical to stark – is rooted in my lived experience with neurodiversity. My art is a direct reflection of a mind constantly negotiating high contrast emotional and conceptual states. My objective is to present these extremes in a way that resonates with a shared human experience, using subtlety or boldness to evoke a feeling of familiarity and connection.
Déjà vu.

As a woman with a past, addicted to extremes, seasoned sufficiently by the nuanced gray areas that exist between these extremes, I navigate life with a thoughtful awareness but also a side-eye wariness.

Then, I paint it.
